How To Get State-Of-The Art Video Singles Cheap by Kenny Love
08/31/2005
Get Competitive Videos For Little Or No Money by Kenny Love, MusicDish Network Sponsor When it comes to promoting their new music releases, I have found that most musicians only consider radio as the vehicle for exposing their music to the public. Rarely do they consider publicity, in the form of print media, i.e., music magazines, weekly arts and entertainment publications and newspapers, as support tools to help support their radio airplay (another subject I shall address shortly). But even rarer is their consideration of the importance of having videos for their singles.
Manage For Success: Keeping Up With New Technology by Keith Holtzman

It appears that every day there's some updated news or information about the latest wrinkle in technology that affects our music industry. Such items include ringtones, music over cell phones, DRM, BitTorrent, podcasting, and a plethora of new approaches to downloading music from the web to your computer, portable music player, such as Apple's iPod, or cell phone.
Sales And Marketing Trends In The Music Industry - The Decline of Record Sales Revenues by Katherina Sutter
07/06/2005
Why talk about the music industry's options dealing with new technologies? Since the music industry has gone through major changes in the recent years, it is important to know, which of their strategies have proved successful and which have not. In these years of major changes, the sales revenues of record companies have rapidly and steadily declined. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), the worldwide record sales revenues were US $10 Billion less in 2003 than 8 years earlier. In the USA the record revenues have declined more than 10% since 2000.

How Does it work?
Well, in order to sell your independent music items on BandMecca, first you need a BandMecca Musician Central account. Sign up is free, and gets you immediate exposure by listing your artist information on BandMecca. Once you've got your account set up, you can login to Musician Central and manage your BandMecca site. You set up each of the individual products yourself, making sure you have editorial control over the content and description of your product as well as any images of the product. Of course, BandMecca administrators can edit your description if necessary, or may upload images of your products if you don't have them. When setting up your products, you can also select how much you want to get paid. This is an important step because while BandMecca may increase or decrease the price of your item, you will ALWAYS get paid the same amount no matter what. Finally, ship 3 copies of your product to our distribution center and you are done! We'll let you know when we need more inventory, and we'll pay you for what we sell. It's that easy.

Do you have this feature?
There are some features that BandMecca may not currently have. But don't worry - if we're missing something that is very important to your music and your business, let us know! If we think it is something that would benefit our artists, we'll work to try to incorporate it into our ever-expanding set of features. And we'll even work with you to make sure we get it right! How's that for interaction?

My friends aren't signed up on BandMecca. Why should I?
At the risk of sounding like a parental cliche, if your friends jumped off of a cliff...would you? No matter how many of your friends are on those competitor sites and are bleeding cash every time they want to set up a new product, does that really mean you'd be better off there? In the end, you've got to figure out where the best place to promote your music might be. But we think you should be here with us. And bring your friends along for the ride. They'll thank you for saving them some cash!

Is BandMecca exclusive?
No way. We understand the need to promote your music goes well beyond us, and while some artists prefer to manage all of their sales through a single outlet, most like to sell their music and merchandise through multiple online vendors. And we are fine with that. That being said, if you would LIKE an exclusive arrangement with BandMecca, we may be able to spice up the terms of your contract. Contact us at bands@bandmecca.com for more information.

Where can I get more info on BandMecca?
All of our current and potential artists can contact us at any time with suggestions, questions, comments, or just to say hello by emailing bands@bandmecca.com.
